News Release

Criminal Abuse Arrest in Laurel County

Date of News Release: 01/16/2010

(London, Ky.) -- On Friday January 15, 2010 at 11:30 PM the Kentucky State Police Post 11, London received a report, from Saint Joseph of London hospital, of a 3-year old child that was the victim of possible child abuse. The child was brought into the emergency room by a non-custodial family member.

Upon arrival Trooper Mike King and Trooper Lloyd Cochran began an investigation into the allegation. The investigation led to a residence on Oak Ridge Church Road in southern Laurel County.

Trooper King arrested the child's mother Renae N. Carter, 26, and the mother's boyfriend John H. Thrower, 31, of Corbin charging both with Criminal Abuse 1st Degree.

Trooper King is continuing the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Trooper Lloyd Cochran and the Department of Community Based Services for Laurel County.
