Murder Arrest in Pulaski County

(London, Ky.) -- On Thursday, January 14, 2010, Kentucky State Police Detective Doug Boyd arrested Michael Andrew Abner, 46, of Eubank in reference to a Murder investigation that began in 1983.

On 10/12/1983 the Kentucky State Police began an investigation into the death of Mamie Mercer, 80, of Somerset which was determined to be Murder. Although the investigation into Mamie Mercer's death remained open, leads had dried up and the investigation went cold.

On 01/12/2010 the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department began a Murder investigation into the death of Jack Roerink that resulted in the arrest of Michael Abner for Murder. During that investigation Abner volunteered information that resulted in new leads into the Mamie Mercer investigation.

KSP Detective Doug Boyd, following up on those leads, arrested Mr. Abner on the charges of Murder and Robbery 1st in the Mamie Mercer Case.

Detective Boyd is continuing the investigation into the Mamie Mercer case and was assisted by the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office.
