One Killed in a Two-Vehicle Collision in Allen, Ky

Date of News Release: 11/10/2009

(Allen, Ky.) -- John R. Pelphrey 81, years old, of Allen, Ky., was pronounced dead at the scene by Floyd County Coroner Greg Nelson after he attempted to pull across the southbound lanes of U.S.23 driving a 2008 Toyota Rav 4 and collided with Terri L. Edwards of Prestonsburg, KY. Mrs. Edwards was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Traverse traveling southbound on U.S. 23. Drugs or Alcohol are not suspected as a factor in the collision. Speed is undetermined at the time of this release. All parties were wearing their seatbelts. The collision is still under investigation at this time by TFC. Eddie Crum of the Kentucky State Police. Assisting with the scene were The Floyd County Sheriff's Office, The Allen Fire Department, Kentucky State Police Detective B.J. Caudill, TPR. David Watkins, Trans Starr Ambulance Service, Prestonsburg Police Department.
