Fatal Truck Collision in Elkhorn City, Ky

(Elkhorn City, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police Post 09 Pikeville troopers were dispatched to a fatal truck collision on KY. RT. 197, Elkhorn City, KY. Christopher L. Maynard 33, of Warfield, KY, was driving a Mack truck eastbound on KY. RT. 197 when his truck overturned onto the roadway. The truck slid approximately 76 feet and struck a 1994 Mitsubishi Endeavor driven by David Stewart of Elkhorn City. Mr. Maynard was pronounced dead at the scene by Pike County Deputy Coroner Denver Bailey. Mr. Maynard was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. The collision is still under investigation by Trp. Johnny Slone and Trp. Melissa Hampton. Kentucky Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers Barry Coleman and Kevin Belcher also assisted in the investigation.
