One Killed and Two Injured in a Two Vehicle Collision

Date of News Release: 12/04/2009

(Morehead, Ky.) -- At 9:03 am, Kentucky State Police Morehead responded to a 2 vehicle injury accident on KY 32, .5 miles west of Morehead city limits. A Chevrolet blazer driven by Traci Swartz of Wallingford Ky. was traveling eastbound on KY 32, when she slowed due to a vehicle being towed from the westbound shoulder of the roadway. A Chevrolet truck driven by Brian Owens of Morehead was traveling eastbound and struck the vehicle driven by Ms. Swartz, causing the vehicle to overturn in the roadway. Ms. Swartz was then ejected from the vehicle. Ms. Swartz was pronounced deceased at the scene. Passenger Daniel Moore was transported to St. Claire, where he was later released with minor injuries. Mr. Owens was also transported to St. Claire Medical Center with minor injuries and was released. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Keith Howard U/523.
