News Release

One Killed in a Two-Vehicle Collision on KY36

Date of News Release: 10/29/2009

(Dry Ridge, Ky.) -- On Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at approximately 1600 hours, Kentucky State Police responded to a two vehicle head-on collision on KY 36, approximately 1 mile east of US 25. Darlene Skinner, 50 years of age, of Berry, was operating a 1997 Ford Escort, and Mr. Troy Beckelhimer, 38 years of age, also of Berry, was operating a 2007 Chevy Cobalt. The vehicles collided head-on, which resulted in the injuries of 5 people. Darlene Skinner and her passenger, Gary Skinner, 52 years of age, also of Berry, were transported to the University of Cincinnati Hospital with serious injuries. Troy Beckelhimer and two juvenile passengers were transported by EMS to St. Elizabeth Grant County with non-life threatening injuries. On Wednesday, Oct 28, Gary Skinner was pronounced deceased at UC. The cause of the accident is under investigation at this time. Alcohol is not considered to be a factor at this time. Gary Skinner was wearing a seatbelt, Darlene Skinner was not. All occupants of the Cobalt were fastened in with either a belt or child safety seat. Williamstown Fire, Dry Ridge Fire, Trans-care EMS, PHI, Williamstown PD, and the Grant County Sheriff's Office assisted on scene.
