News Release

Grant County Meth Lab Arrest

Date of News Release: 08/14/09

(Dry Ridge, Ky.) -- On August 13th 2009 at approximately 8:45 p.m. Officers from the Kentucky State Police, Kentucky Probation and Parole, United States Marshalls Fugitive Task Force, Grant County Sheriff's Department and Kenton County Sheriff's Department responded to 3800 Dixie Highway in Dry Ridge, KY in an attempt to serve a probation violation warrant. While serving the warrant, officers located finished product from a methamphetamine laboratory in plain view. After obtaining and executing a search warrant for the residence, officers located further ingredients used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. Mia Smith of Dry Ridge, KY was charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Endangerment to a Child 4th Degree, Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st Degree and Unlawful Distribution of Methamphetamine Precursor. Sherry L. Manning of Independence, KY and James J. Smith of Dry Ridge, KY were charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine. Phillip L. Allen of Dry Ridge, KY was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree and David Allen Jr. of Union, KY was also charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine and served with a Kentucky Parole Violation Warrant. All subjects were lodged at the Grant County Detention Center. The incident remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Detective's Carey Kitts and Fred Scroggins.
