Fatal Accident in Grant County

Date of News Release: 06/26/09

(Dry Ridge, Ky.) -- On June 26, 2009 at approximately 0840 hours, Kentucky State Police, Grant County Sheriff's Deputies, Dry Ridge and the Crittenden Fire Department responded to a single vehicle accident at the 165 mile maker of interstate I-75 southbound. Mr. Don Lee Shipe, 59 years of age, of Blaine, TN was driving a Tractor Trailer (Doubles) when his vehicle ran off the right shoulder of the roadway just prior to the 165 mile marker. The vehicle came to final rest approximately 70 feet from the guard rail in an embankment. Mr. Shipe was pronounced dead upon arrival of the Grant County Coroner, Marylee Willoby at approximately 0915 hours. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Scott Allen.
