KSP Post 6 - 2009 Click It or Ticket Campaign

(Dry Ridge, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police at Dry Ridge will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints throughout the post district during the period of May 18th through the 31st. These checkpoints are a part of the 2009 "Click It or Ticket Campaign" and will be conducted in an effort to enforce the traffic laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The goal of this campaign is to reduce the number of crashes, injuries and fatalities that occur during the Memorial Holiday period
These checkpoints will be set up at designated areas on highways where statistics have shown an elevated number of vehicle crashes. During the checkpoints officers will be enforcing laws related to Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol, Licensing of Motor Vehicles and Operators, Registration and Insurance Violations, Seat Belt and Child Restraint violations along with Motor Vehicle Equipment Violations.
Last year, statewide, there were 4483 crashes resulting in 1423 injuries and 25 fatalities during this time period. In the Dry Ridge Post area, during this time period in 2008, there were 598 crashes resulting in 133 injuries and 5 fatalities.

Bourbon County
Bracken County
Grant County
Harrison County
Nicholas County
Pendleton County
Robertson County
Traffic Safety Checkpoints are a valuable tool used to promote the safety and well being of the public as well as providing police with visibility and interaction with the community. Checkpoints are utilized throughout the Commonwealth to help promote highway safety. Local police and county agencies may also assist the Kentucky State Police in conducting these Traffic Safety Checkpoints. All checkpoints will be set up in accordance with state law and in compliance with Kentucky State Police policy and procedure.
