5 Injured in a Three-Vehicle Collision on I-71

(Campbellsburg, Ky.) -- On Sunday, November 8, 2009 at approximately 8:14 p.m. The Kentucky State Police responded to a three vehicle collision at mile marker 29 on Interstate 71 south.
A commercial vehicle operated by Michael S. Pazsint age 54 from Pennsylvania , was traveling south on Interstate 71 when his vehicle struck a passenger van operated by Veronique Armes age 33 from Shelbyville, Ky. Following the initial collision the van was forced into the back of a commercial vehicle operated by Robert Runkle age 58 from Ohio. All three vehicles came to a final rest at mile marker 29 on Interstate 71 south.
Michael S. Pazsint received no injuries.
Veronique Armes was transported to University of Louisville where she was treated for serious injuries.
Passengers of the van were Barry Armes and the three juveniles.
Barry Armes, age 35, was transported to Baptist Hospital Northeast where he was treated for serious injuries.
One juvenile, age 3, was transported from the scene by Air Methods to Kosair Children's Hospital where she was treated for serious injuries.
Two other juveniles, ages 7 and 12, were transported to Kosair Children's Hospital by ambulance where they were treated for serious injuries.
Robert Runkle received no injuries.
The collision is currently under investigation by Trooper Chris Clark with the Kentucky State Police. Assisting at the scene was Henry County EMS, Oldham County EMS, Lake Jericho Fire Department, Campbellsburg Fire Department, Henry County State Highway Department, Air Methods and other members of the Kentucky State Police.
