News Release

Fatal Collision on Sawdridge Creek Road

Date of News Release: 09/13/2009

(Campbellsburg, Ky.) -- On Sunday, September 13, 2009 at approximately 00:33 hours. The Kentucky State Police responded to a single vehicle fatal collision approximately .7 miles South of Monterey at 340 Sawdridge Creek Road.

A 1978 Ford F350 fire truck driven by Terry Sharon age 60 from Monterey, was traveling East on Sawdridge Creek Road, after responding to a report of a motor vehicle accident when he lost control of the vehicle, and traveled approximately 150 feet off the roadway before colliding with an unoccupied fifth wheel camper trailer parked on the property neighboring the fire station. Terry Sharon was transported to New Horizons Regional Medical Center by Owen County EMS where he was later pronounced deceased by Dr. L. Johnson.

The collision is currently under investigation by Sergeant Stout with the Kentucky State Police. Assisting at the scene was the Owen County Sheriff Department, Owen County Life Squad, Monterey Fire Department and other members of the Kentucky State Police.
