Two Vehicle Fatal Collision on Highway 55 in Henry County

(Campbellsburg, Ky.) -- On Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at approximately 4:00 p.m. the Kentucky State Police responded to a two vehicle fatal collision approximately 2 miles north of Eminence, Kentucky on Highway 55 in Henry County.
A pick up truck being driven by Alan R. Parrish age 42 from Smithfield, Kentucky was traveling south on Highway 55 when the vehicle dropped off of the edge of the highway, over corrected and crossed over the center line and struck an embankment. The pick up truck then overturned and spun around where it struck a motorcycle traveling north on Highway 55. The motorcycle was being operated by Robert F. Nolan age 75 from New Castle, Kentucky who was reportedly not wearing a helmet. Mr. Nolan was flown from the scene to the University of Louisville Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Mr. Parrish was not injured and was reportedly wearing his seatbelt.
Mr. Parrish was arrested at the scene and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol second degree aggravated. Other charges are pending.
The collision is currently under investigation by Trooper Jim Mitchell with the Kentucky State Police. Assisting at the scene was the Eminence Police Department, New Castle Police Department, Henry County Sheriff's Department, Eminence Fire Department, Henry County EMS, Air Methods Air Ambulance, and other members of the Kentucky State Police.
