Fatal Collision on I-71 in Carroll County

(Campbellsburg, Ky.) -- On Monday, August 31, 2009 at approximately 12:42 A.M. the Kentucky State Police, Post 5-Campbellsburg responded to a single vehicle fatal accident on I-71 at the 39 mile marker north bound in Carroll County, KY. A vehicle being driven by Jessica Isaacs, age 23 from Franklin, OH was traveling south bound when the vehicle left the highway and entered the median. The vehicle then overturned in the median and entered the north bound lanes where it struck a guardrail on the east side of the interstate. The front seat passenger of the vehicle, Michael D. Isaacs, age 24 from Franklin, OH was ejected from the vehicle, and was later transported to the Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton where he was pronounced deceased. The victim was not wearing a seatbelt.

Jessica Isaacs was transported to Carroll County Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was reported to have been wearing a seat belt. The Isaacs' infant child was secured in a child safety seat as a rear passenger of the vehicle and was not injured in the accident.

The accident remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.

Assisting at the scene were Carroll County EMS, Carroll County Rescue, Westside Fire Department, Henry County EMS, Campbellsburg Fire Department, PHI Air Medical, Carroll County Coroner David Wilhoite and the Carroll County Sheriff's Department.
