Fatal Collision on U.S. 42 in Gallatin County

(Campbellsburg, Ky.) -- On May 24th, 2009, at approximately 6:37 pm Kentucky State Police Post 5 Campbellsburg, responded to a fatal injury accident on U.S. 42 in Gallatin County. Preliminary investigation indicates that a 1999 Ford truck driven by Brian J. Ritchey II, 28 yrs. old of Bluff City, Tn. was eastbound on U.S. 42 and turned in front of a westbound vehicle driven by Lonna D. Kehrer of Sanders, KY. who was fatally injured. Also in Kehrer's vehicle was Cindy Keith, 30, from Norwood, OH., who received serious injuries and was transported to University of Cincinnati. Kaitlyn Hahn, 9, from Norwood, OH., who received serious injuries and was transported to Cincinnati's Children's Hospital, and Savannah Stevens, 3, of Norwood, OH., who received serious injuries and was also transported to Cincinnati's Children's Hospital. Brian J Ritchey II received minor injuries and was transported to Carroll County Memorial Hospital. The passenger in Ritchey's vehicle, Kevin H Turly, 34, from Johnson City, TN., received no injuries. None of the occupants in both vehicles were wearing seat belts. This is the second fatal accident over the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend in which the deceased was unrestrained. Also assisting on scene was the Gallatin County Sheriff's Department, Gallatin County Fire, Gallatin County EMS, Gallatin County Coroner, Carroll County Coroner, and PHI Medical Helicopter.
