Two Injured in a Single Vehicle Collision on the Western Kentucky Parkway

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- On November 18, 2009, Trooper Daniel Leonard, from the Kentucky State Police Post in Elizabethtown, was called to respond to a single-vehicle injury accident on the westbound Western Kentucky Parkway, 11 miles west of Elizabethtown. Trooper Leonard reported that a 1986 Chevrolet Caprice, operated by Harold E. Farmer (a 59-year-old white male from Boaz, Ky) was traveling westbound in the left lane at excessive speed when the vehicle entered the median. Mr. Farmer attempted to steer the vehicle back onto the roadway, but overcorrected and struck the guardrail along the right shoulder. Mr. Farmer, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. A passenger, Gladys S. Farmer (an 86-year-old white female from Boaz, Ky), became trapped inside the vehicle and required mechanical extrication by the White Mills Fire Department. Both occupants suffered life-threatening injuries and were airlifted to University of Louisville by Air Methods Air Ambulance.
