News Release

One Killed and One Arrested in DUI Collision

Date of News Release: 11/08/2009

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- On 11/07/2009 at 20:31 hours Trooper responded to 2596 Battle Training Road in reference to an injury accident. A 1992 Dodge Dakota operated by Michael Brunello, 24, of Rineyville, Ky., was traveling east on Battle Training Road (Ky434) when he struck a 1989 GMC Jimmy being operated by Thomas A. Langley, 30 of Vine Grove, Ky. The collision caused the GMC to leave the right shoulder of the roadway. After leaving the roadway the GMC began overturning, ejecting Mr. Langley from the vehicle. The Dodge Dakota then traveled into the driveway at 2596 Battle Training Road striking a 1999 Honda that was parked.

Micheal Brunello fled the scene of the collision. Mr. Brunello was located and arrested and charged with Leaving the scene of an accident, Operating Motor Vehicle under the influence of alcohol 1st offense, and No Insurance 1st offense. Mr. Langley was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital and was later pronounced deceased. Mr. Langley was not wearing a seatbelt.

The collision is being investigated by Trooper Brad Riley, KSP Post 4 Elizabethtown. Trooper Riley was assisted at the scene by Trooper Ryan Johnson, Trooper Jack Bumgardner, Trooper Kevin Burton, Central Hardin Fire Department, and Hardin County EMS.
