One Killed & Two Injured in a Four Vehicle Collision on US31E

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- A vehicle operated by Kevin Sullivan age 22, of Mt. Washington, Ky., was traveling north in the southbound lanes of US31E. Mr. Sullivan struck a northbound vehicle operated by Joseph Smith age 40, of Taylorsville, Ky., then struck a northbound vehicle operated by Michael L. Workman age 22, of Taylorsville, Ky. During the collision Robert Gaddie of Radcliff, Ky., was also northbound and struck the rear of Mr. Workman's car. Both Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Workman were extricated by fire service and flown to University of Louisville Hospital. Mr. Sullivan is listed as having life threatening injuries. Mr. Workman died from his injuries at 0232 hours. Mr. Gaddie was not injured. Neither Mr. Smith nor his passengers were injured in the collision.

All occupants were restrained.

Alcohol is suspected.

Accident is being investigated by Det. Terry Whittaker, Kentucky State Police, Post 4, Elizabethtown.
