Injury Collision on the Bluegrass Parkway
Date of News Release: 09/14/2009
(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- On 09/14/2009, at 5:15 PM Eastern time, Trooper Justin Spears was called to respond to a possible injury accident on the eastbound Bluegrass Parkway, approximately 4 miles east of Elizabethtown. Upon arrival, Trooper Spears found a 1994 Nissan Pathfinder, operated by 33-year-old Kayla L. Vittitow of Boston, Ky, lying on its side near the right shoulder of the roadway. Through investigation, Trooper Spears discovered that Ms. Vittitow was traveling eastbound when her vehicle suffered right rear tire failure, which caused the vehicle to steer left. Ms. Vittitow attempted to correct by steering right, but overcorrected. The vehicle then left the roadway on the right side, struck a rock wall, and overturned. Ms. Vittitow suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries, and was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by Hardin County EMS.
