Injury Collision on I-65

Date of News Release: 09/13/2009

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- On September 13, at approximately 11:22 AM Eastern time, the Kentucky State Police responded to an injury accident on I-65 at the 112mm, northbound. U/1 a 2001 Pontiac driven by Devin Johnson, 16, of Lebanon Junction, Ky., was entering onto I-65 from the 112 exit ramp when he noticed the vehicle in front of him was traveling slower than he estimated. The operator of the vehicle made an evasive move to avoid a collision when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle began spinning and struck a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle and came to a final rest facing the wrong direction of travel on I-65. The operator of the motorcycle, John Wilson, 53, of Morning view, Ky., was transported by EMS with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Speed was a contributing factor in the accident.

The investigation is being conducted by Trooper Eric Hines, KSP Post 4, Elizabethtown.
