News Release

Traffic Stop and Arrest on I-65

Date of News Release: 09/12/2009

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- Tpr. Manny Cruz was patrolling I-65 at the 102 mile marker in Hardin County when he observed a vehicle speeding northbound. Tpr. Cruz initiated a traffic stop. When Tpr. Cruz approached the vehicle, he detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Tpr. Cruz was granted consent to search, and as a result of the search, seized approximately two (2) pounds of processed marijuana worth an estimated four thousand ($4,000) dollars. Andre Martin was arrested on the following charges: Speeding (work zone), Improper Lane Usage, No Turn Signal, Driving Too Fast for Road Conditions, No Seatbelt, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving Under the Influence (Drugs) 1st Offense and Trafficking in Marijuana More than Eight (8) Ounces, but Less than five (5) pounds 1st Offense with a Firearm Enhancement. Andre Martin was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. Tpr. Cruz is continuing to investigate this matter.
