Fatal Collision on I-65

Date of News Release: 07/04/2009

(Elizabethtown, Ky.) -- Jeremy C. Chesher age 18 of Jeffersonville, in was southbound I-65 in the left lane. Mr. Chesher's vehicle dropped off the edge of roadway. Mr. Chesher was unable to steer back onto roadway, lost control and overturned in the median. A passenger (Charles E. Chesher age 52 of Jeffersonville, IN) in the vehicle was ejected into the northbound lanes where he was struck by Christa M. Weber's vehicle. Charles E. Chesher was pronounced dead at scene.

There were three other passengers in Jeremy C. Chesher's vehicle who all received minor injuries. No one in Christa M. Weber's vehicle was injured. Everyone was wearing seatbelts except for the victim.

Accident worked by Trooper Terry Whittaker of the Kentucky State Police. He was assisted by Bullitt County Sheriff'S Office, Lebanon Junction Police Department, Pioneer Village Police Department, Shepherdsville Police Department, Bullitt County Coroner, Bullitt County EMS and Lebanon Junction Fire Department.
