Edmonson County Arrest

(Bowling Green, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police received a call for assistance from the Edmonson County Sheriff Department regarding a homicidal and suicidal subject on Barbee Road in the Rocky Hill community in Edmonson County.

Upon arrival, Kentucky State Police personnel made contact with Charles Byrns, age 60. After making contact with Byrns, he fired several shots at law enforcement officers that were on the scene. After shooting at law enforcement, Byrns retreated into his residence and refused to come out.

After Byrns retreated into his residence and communication broke off, the Kentucky State Police State Police Special Response Team was notified and responded. Upon arrival, the Special Response Team, re-established contact with Byrns and was able to talk him into coming out of his residence. Byrns was then taken into custody without incident. He was then transported to Post 3 in Bowling Green where he was interview and then lodged in the Grayson County jail and charged with Attempted Murder on a Police Officer.

There were no injuries sustained to either Byrns or Kentucky State Police personnel.
