News Release

Felony Drug Arrest in Hopkins County

Date of News Release: 11/08/2009

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Trooper McPherson was on extra patrol on Wells Road, when he attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic offenses. The driver of the vehicle attempted to elude Trooper McPherson by pulling into a residence and turning off his headlights. Trooper McPherson was out with the vehicle when he noticed a strong ether smell coming from the residence where the vehicle had pulled into. Trooper McPherson then located the homeowner. After further investigation, Trooper McPherson discovered items used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. A second subject fled from the back door of the residence and was later located in the woods behind the residence without incident by Trooper Nick Rice, Unit 460. George M. Townsell Jr. age 21 of Nortonville, Ky. was arrested and changed with Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st Offense, Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Methamphetamine), Possession of Anhydrous Ammonia other Approved Container with Intent to Manufacture Methamphetamine 1st offense, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 1st offense. Michael Gamblin age 18 of Madisonville, Ky. was also arrested and charged with Operating on Suspended Operators License, Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree (Motor Vehicle). Both men were lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
