Injury Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer
Date of News Release: 11/02/2009
(Madisonville, KY) - Jerry Morgan, age 59 of Sikeston, MO, was operating a 2006 International tractor-trailer southbound on US 431. He was hauling recycled zinc. As the vehicle was traveling southbound, the right, front tire dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway. Mr. Morgan lost control of the vehicle and it exited off the right shoulder of the roadway and traveled into a ditch coming to rest on the passenger side of the vehicle. The load remained inside the box trailer; however, there was extensive damage to the trailer. Mr. Morgan was transported by ambulance to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. He was wearing a seat belt. Both lanes of US 431 were closed for approximately 3 ½ hours. KSP CVE Officer Chris Green investigated the crash. The Beechmont Volunteer Fire Department, Muhlenberg County EMS & Muhlenberg County Emergency Management assisted at the scene.
