Pedestrian Injured on Butler Road in Todd County
Date of News Release: 09/28/2009
(Madisonville, Ky.) -- A pedestrian, Jerry Vargas, was walking westbound on the eastbound side of Butler Road. Traveling westbound in the westbound lane approaching Mr. Vargas from behind was a horse & cart and a bicycle. Phillip Wadley was operating a 1999 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck westbound on Butler Road approaching the horse & cart and the bicycle. Mr. Wadley attempted to pass the horse & cart and the bicycle. As Mr. Wadley was passing, the horse & cart and the bicycle came over closer to him causing him to go to his left. Mr. Wadley did not see Mr. Vargas in time and struck him with his vehicle. Mr. Vargas was flown to the Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment. Mr. Wadley and his passengers were not injured.
