Injury Collision on Sandcut Road in Hopkins County
Date of News Release: 09/13/2009
(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Marvin Browning was traveling southbound on Sandcut Road, approaching the Grapevine Baptist Church. Roma McClain was pulling out of the Grapevine Baptist Church parking lot, turning left onto the northbound lane of Sandcut Road. Mr. Browning attempted to slow, causing the motorcycle to skid sideways along the southbound lane of travel. The left portion of Mr. Browning's motorcycle made contact with the left side of Ms. McClain's van. The motorcycle then fell over onto its left side, skidding along the roadway towards the right shoulder of the roadway. The front of Mr. Browning's motorcycle then made contact with a ditch just off the right shoulder of the roadway in front of the Grapevine Baptist Church. Mr. Browning's motorcycle came to rest in a ditch facing south. Ms. McClain's vehicle came to rest in the northbound lane of travel, facing north. Marvin Browning was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in a ditch just south of the motorcycle. Candy Stewart, a passenger on the motorcycle, was also ejected and landed in the church parking lot just off the southbound shoulder of the roadway. Mr. Browning and Ms. Stewart were transported by Med-Center ambulance to Regional Medical Center, for injuries sustained as a result of the collision.
