Fatal Collision on KY 70 in Muhlenberg County

Date of News Release: 09/08/2009

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Billy R. Stogner was operating a 1985 International Harvester utility-type truck eastbound on KY 70 in Midland. For an unknown reason, the vehicle dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway. Mr. Stogner overcorrected causing the vehicle to cross both lanes of travel. It exited the left shoulder of the roadway and became airborne. The vehicle continued through a yard and struck two trees before coming to rest off the roadway. The Muhlenberg County Coroner, Tony Armour, pronounced Mr. Stogner dead at the scene. Mr. Stogner was not wearing a seat belt. The crash remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
