Felony Arrest on the Pennyrile Parkway
Date of News Release: 08/29/2009
(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Sergeant Jason Newby observed a motorcycle traveling southbound at the 33 Mile Marker, on the Edward Breathitt Parkway, in excess of 140 MPH. Sergeant Newby attempted to stop the vehicle by activating his emergency equipment, but the operator (Mort L. Packer age 34 of Oak Grove, Ky.) of the vehicle failed to stop and continued to travel southbound on the parkway. The vehicle was finally stopped at the 13 Mile Marker by Trooper Luis Palmer, without incident. Mr. Packer was lodged in the Christian County Jail and charged with Speeding Over 26 MPH, Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol 1st and Fleeing and Evading 1st Degree - Motor Vehicle .
