Injury Crash Involving Motorcycles in Hopkins County

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Dawn Karges was operating a 2010 Honda motorcycle northbound on the Edward T. Breathitt (Pennyrile) Parkway. Her husband, Michael Karges, was operating a 2005 Honda motorcycle directly behind her. Mrs. Karges attempted to exit onto the ramp at the 37 mile-marker. As she was exiting, she lost control of her motorcycle. The motorcycle slid off the roadway and struck a road sign. In an attempt to avoid striking his wife, Mr. Karges lost control of his motorcycle and slid across the roadway. Both motorcycles came to rest just north of the exit ramp in a field. Mr. and Mrs. Karges were transported by ambulance to the Regional Medical Center for treatment. Both subjects were wearing helmets.
