News Release

Manufacturing Methamphetamine Arrest in Hopkins County

Date of News Release: 06/30/2009

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- On Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at approximately 10:10 a.m., the Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville received a tip that Charles Fugate & Nathaniel P. Teague were in the woods off of Leon Smith Road with anhydrous ammonia cooking methamphetamine. Trooper Komar, Trooper Anderson and Deputy Lampton responded to the scene. Upon their arrival, they could hear people talking in the woods and detected a strong chemical odor. The officers observed the two subjects for approximately 30 minutes. The officers identified themselves as they approached the two. Charles Fugate & Nathaniel P. Teague fled the scene on foot as the officers approached. After a brief foot pursuit, both suspects were apprehended. At the scene, officers located tanks of anhydrous ammonia, empty tanks, salt, liquid fire, pseudoephedrine pills and various containers commonly used in manufacturing methamphetamine. Officers also located digital scales and plastic baggies at the scene. Charles Fugate was charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st Offense, Knowingly Possess Anhydrous Ammonia Without Approved Container w/ Intent to Manufacture Methamphetamine 1st Offense, Resisting Arrest, Fleeing/Evading Police 2nd Degree (On Foot) & Carrying A Concealed Weapon. Nathaniel P. Teague was charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st Offense, Knowingly Possess Anhydrous Ammonia Without Approved Container w/ Intent to Manufacture Methamphetamine 1st Offense, Fleeing/Evading Police 2nd Degree (On Foot) & Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 1st Offense. Both were lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
