News Release

Injury Crash Involving DUI in Webster County

Date of News Release: 06/30/2009

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- Roger Heltsley was operating a 2007 Toyota pickup truck northbound on the Edward T. Breathitt (Pennyrile) Parkway when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle crossed the median and overturned. It traveled across both southbound lanes of travel and exited off the southbound shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle traveled into a ditch and struck an embankment before coming to rest upright. Mr. Heltsley was transported by ambulance to the Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released. Through the course of Trooper Steve Oughton's investigation, it was determined that Mr. Heltsley was operating the vehicle under the influence. Mr. Heltsley was arrested and charged with the offenses of DUI 1st Offense, Possession of Open Alcoholic Container in Motor Vehicle, Possession Controlled Substance 2nd Degree 1st Offense, Prescription Controlled Substance Not in Proper Container & Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 1st Offense. He was lodged in the Webster County Detention Center.
