News Release

Inmate from Todd County Detention Center Apprehended

Date of News Release: 05/26/2009

Elkton, KY (Todd County) -- On Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at approximately 4:21 P.M., the Kentucky State Police Madisonville received a call from Todd County Dispatch advising that the Todd County Sheriff had located Nathaniel M. Barber Jr. and was transporting him to the Todd County Detention Center. Trooper Jeff Ayers, Unit 268, and Sergeant Jason Newby, Unit 153, responded to the detention center. Nathaniel M. Barber Jr. was charged with Escape 2nd degree and lodged in the Todd County Detention Center.

Elkton, KY (Todd County) -- On Monday, May 25, 2009, at approximately 12:21 p.m. CST, the Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville was contacted by the Todd County Sheriff's Department in reference to an escapee from the Todd County Detention Center. The escapee, Nathaniel M. Barber Jr., escaped at approximately 9:56 a.m. CST, same date, while participating in the daily, exercise period.

Wanted for Escape 2nd Degree (Class D Felony) is:

Nathaniel M. Barber Jr. Age: 40 Sex: M Race: W Height: 5'11" Weight: 175 Hair: Brown Eyes: Hazel

Mr. Barber was last seen wearing a jail-issued, orange jump suit. He has numerous tattoos on his body. Mr. Barber was incarcerated in the Todd County Detention Center on drug and traffic charges. If you come into contact with Mr. Barber, do not try to apprehend him.
