KSP Post 2 Administrative Specialist Honored for Outstanding Job Performance

Date of News Release: 04/10/2009

(Madisonville, Ky.) -- On Wednesday, April 8, 2009, Kentucky State Police Post 2 Administrative Specialist III Mary Eastwood was presented with the Certificate of Excellence for her outstanding job performance during the recent ice storm that crippled western Kentucky.

During this time, Post 2 was working off generator power and had lost water service. All restaurants and supply stores in the area were closed and communications were disrupted throughout the Post District. Within hours, Mary Eastwood arranged for her husband to deliver a water cell containing several hundred gallons to Post 2. She then drove south, out of the path of the storm, to find an open store where she purchased food and cooking utensils. Returning to post, she slept on the floor and ensured that all personnel had at least two hot meals a day for the remainder of the storm.

Captain William Marks, Commander of the KSP Madisonville Post stated, "Mrs. Eastwood went well above and beyond the call of duty. Her actions reflect most favorable upon both her and the Kentucky State Police. And for that, we are all truly thankful."
