Fatal Fire Investigation in Slaughters, KY

Slaughters, KY (Hopkins County) - On Friday, February 6, 2009, at approximately 11:12 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville received a call from Hopkins County Central Dispatch requesting assistance for the Hanson Fire Department on a structure fire.

The victim, Mary Orr, was pulled from the residence by Hanson Fire Department and transported by Emergency Medical Services to Regional Medical Center in Madisonville where she was pronounced dead. The victim's husband, Danny Orr, was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Regional Medical Center, and then life flighted to Vanderbilt Medical Center.

An autopsy is being performed by the Western Kentucky Regional Medical Examiners office later today. The death investigation is continuing by Detective Dan Morck. The fire is being investigated by Arson Investigator Damon Fleming.
