Death Investigation in Hopkins County

Date of News Release: 02/02/2009

Madisonville, KY (Hopkins County) - On Monday, February 02, 2009 at approximately 12:49 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville received a call from the Hopkins County Sheriff's Department in reference to a vehicle crash on Rose Creek Road.

At approximately 1:19 p.m., Trooper Nick Rice arrived at the scene. Trooper Bob Winters arrived shortly after Trooper Rice. Through the course of the investigation, it was learned that Kirby L. Bridges, age 59 of Dawson Springs, KY, was operating a 1994 Ford F-150 pickup truck on Rose Creek Road when the vehicle exited off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. Mr. Bridges was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hopkins County Coroner, Dennis Mayfield.

At the present time, it appears that Mr. Bridges died of natural causes. The investigation is continuing by Trooper Bob Winters. Trooper Nick Rice, the Manitou Volunteer Fire Department, Medical Center Ambulance Service, and the Hopkins County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
