Accident with Injuries on Tress Shop Road in Todd County

Madisonville, KY - Chester Hoover and Elme Hoover were riding their bicycles southbound on Tress Shop Road. Elme Hoover was in the lead with Chester Hoover following directly behind. Chester and Elme Hoover were both on the far right edge of the road and Hoover had his bicycle indicator light illuminated. The cyclists heard a vehicle approaching from their rear. An unidentified mid-size car struck Mr. Hoover causing him to land in a ditch off the right side of the road. The vehicle stopped approximately 300 feet beyond the collision. The driver exited the vehicle and asked if anyone was hurt. The driver stated he would call someone and then left the area southbound on Tress Shop Road. Mr. Hoover was treated for head and back injuries by the Todd County EMS and Rescue Squad. Mr. Hoover was taken by life-flight to Vanderbilt Hospital for further treatment. The driver of the vehicle is unknown at this time.
