Fatal Collision on Old Murray Paris Road

Date of News Release: 09/20/2009

(Mayfield, Ky.) -- Ms. Maria M. Oliver was traveling North on Old Murray Paris Road and appeared to have lost control of her vehicle. Ms. Oliver's vehicle exited the left side of the roadway and struck a tree before coming to final rest. Area residents responded to the scene and found the engine compartment engulfed in flames. The residents were able to remove a 17 month old child from the backseat, but were unable to assist Ms. Oliver. Ms. Oliver was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Calloway County Coroners Office. The child was transported to Murray Calloway County Hospital for treatment before being released to family members. The investigation is being conducted by Trooper Trey Green, who was assisted by the Calloway County Sheriff's Office, Murray Fire Department, Murray Calloway Ambulance Service, Calloway County Fire Rescue, and the Calloway County Coroners Office.
