Update to the Death Investigation in Mayfield, Ky

Date of News Release: 09/15/2009

(Mayfield, Ky.) -- An autopsy was performed this morning (09/15/09) on a body found in Mayfield, KY on Monday evening. The body of Betty Kelsey, 61 of Cadiz, KY, was located shortly after 4:00 PM Monday afternoon in the parking lot of Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield. Kelsey had been reported missing from Trigg County on September 2nd.

The death of Ms. Kelsey has been ruled a homicide after an autopsy was performed by the state medical examiner's office. Kentucky State Police investigators are currently conducting a criminal investigation into the death. If anyone has information about the death of Betty Kelsey, they are asked to contact the Kentucky State Police at 270-856-3721 or 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state).

Date of News Release: 09/14/2009

(Mayfield, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police in Mayfield are conducting a death investigation after a body was found in a pickup truck at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield. At approximately 4:00 PM, Kentucky State Police responded to the north parking lot of the hospital campus after a body was discovered in a parked vehicle. An investigation into the death quickly ensued. The identity of the body is being withheld at this time pending an autopsy which is scheduled to take place tomorrow morning in Madisonville, KY. Details of the investigation will follow pending the results of the autopsy.
