KSP Felony Arrest
Date of News Release: 08/22/2009
(Murray, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police Post 1 received notification that Henry County Sheriff's Department was in pursuit of a white Jeep Cherokee and had crossed the state line into Calloway County. Henry County units advised that the vehicle was attempting to ram their vehicles in an attempt to escape. After traveling down State Line Road, deputies discontinued the pursuit due to the erratic and dangerous driving of the suspect. The suspect vehicle, later learned to be driven by Eugene Duffy, was located approximately 5-10 minutes later on KY 94 by Murray Police Department Officer Andy Cooper. Officer Cooper initiated pursuit when the vehicle failed to yield. During the pursuit, Mr. Duffy turned down a dead end road. Mr. Duffy circled through residential yard and drove back toward Officer Cooper where the vehicles collided. After striking the Murray Police cruiser, the vehicle continued to flee, getting back onto Robertson Road, traveling north. Trooper Brian Duvall of the Kentucky State Police was on KY 94 and observed the vehicle traveling north toward him. Trooper Duvall pulled onto Robertson Road where he collided with Mr. Duffy's vehicle. Mr. Duffy was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Murray Calloway County Hospital for injuries received in the collisions. Mr. Duffy was treated and released and was lodged in the Calloway County Detention Center on charges of Driving Under the Influence 2nd Degree Aggravated, Driving DUI Suspended 2nd, Assault 1st Police Officer Resisting Arrest, and Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree Police Officer. He is facing more charges by Murray Police Department as well as charges by Tennessee authorities.
