Increase in Thefts Across Region
Date of News Release: 08/03/2009
(Hickory, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police and local law enforcement are asking for the public's assistance after an increase in property thefts in Calloway, Graves, and Marshall Counties. Over the past month, investigators have noticed a spike in thefts including four-wheelers, trailers, generators, and lawn mowers. These thefts have been especially high in south Marshall County and northeast Calloway County. Graves County has experienced thefts in all parts of the county.
Property owners are asked to secure all valuable equipment to the best of their ability to help reduce their chances of being a victim of theft. Ensure that all outbuilding doors and windows are secured as not to allow thieves an easy entry. Utilize security lighting if available. As always, homeowners are asked to keep their homes secured at night and while they are away. These simple steps can minimize the chances of being a victim of theft.
If anyone has any information about theft in their community, please contact your local law enforcement or Kentucky State Police at 1-800-222-5555.
