Felony Drug Arrest in Lyon County

(Henderson, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police Post 16 - Henderson executed a search warrant at residence in Union County on October 07, 2009 resulting in the discovery of methamphetamine manufacturing materials and an explosive device. The resident was identified as Sean M. Powell, who was not at the residence during the execution of the search warrant, who had warrants for parole violation and flagrant non-support.
On October 22, 2009, KSP-Henderson street level detectives received information that Mr. Powell was located in a wooded area off of Oriole Drive in Lyon County. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that there was an active methamphetamine lab inside the motor home and that Mr. Powell had barricaded himself. After 7 ½ hours, Mr. Powell was apprehended without incident. The active lab was removed by detectives from the Drug Enforcement/Special Invetigations-West Branch.
Just prior to arrest, Mr. Powell ingested an unknown substance and was admitted to the Caldwell County Hospital for observation. KSP guarded Mr. Powell until his release on October 24, 2009. He was then transported to the Caldwell County Jail.
