Date of News Release: 06/06/2009
(Henderson, Ky.) -- Mr. Joseph E. Jones, operating the 2003 Chevrolet, was West bound on US 60. Mr. Michael D. Byrnes, operating the 2000 Hyundai was also West bound on US 60 as was Mr. Raymond L. Turner, operating the 2007 Dodge. Mr. Turner had stopped to make a left turn into a drive and Mr. Byrnes had stopped behind Mr. Turner's vehicle. Mr. Jones failed to see that the vehicles had stopped until a collision was unavoidable. Mr. Jones applied his brakes but was unable to stop and he struck Mr. Byrnes vehicle from the rear. This impact caused Mr. Byrnes vehicle to be pushed forward into the vehicle being driven by Mr. Turner. The Turner vehicle was then driven off the roadway. Mr. Byrnes had to be extricated from his vehicle and was transported by ambulance to Methodist Hospital Union County. Mr. Turner and Mr. Jones were both uninjured. The Byrnes vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
