Multi-Fatality Collision on KY 555 in Washington County

(Columbia, KY) - At 1004 PM (on 01/13/2009) Post 15 received a call of a head on collision in the southbound lanes of KY555. A 1995 Ford pick-up truck operated by Robert Wayne Miles of Springfield was traveling north on KY555 when he attempted to pass another vehicle in a no passing zone and struck a 2007 Chevrolet van operated by Willie J. Adams Jr. of Washington ,PA that was traveling southbound on KY 555. After impact Mr. Adams' vehicle left the roadway and came to final rest on an earth embankment. Mr. Miles' vehicle came to final rest on KY555 facing east. Both Mr. Miles and Mr. Adams were transported via ambulance to Springview Hospital in Lebanon were they were pronounced dead by Marion County Coroner J.R. Moraja Sr. Mr. Miles was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. However, Mr. Adams was not. The accident is currently being investigated by Trooper 1st Class Dewayne Holder. Assisting at the scene were Sgt. Jamie Heller, Trooper Donnie Moses, Trooper Nathan Rhodes, Springfield Police Department, Washington County Sheriff's Office, Washington County EMS, and Washington County Fire/Rescue.
