"Over the Limit, Under Arrest"

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky Sate Police will be participating in the "Over the Limit, Under Arrest" mobilization which will begin on Wednesday December the 16th, 2009 and will conclude at midnight on Sunday January 3rd, 2009.

With this statewide mobilization The Kentucky State Police will be concentrating our enforcement efforts on impaired drivers. Drunk driving is one of America's most often committed and deadliest crimes. Last year in Kentucky there were 826 highway fatalities. Of these 24% involved a driver or motorcycle operator with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher.

Additional traffic enforcement efforts will be focused on violations including, but not limited to: speed, occupant protection, following to close and reckless driving.

During this time period The Kentucky State Police will be conducting additional safety road checks and saturation patrols will be conducted in various areas throughout the Post 14 area.
