Update to the Double Homicide Investigation in Carter County

Date of News Release: 11/17/2009

(Ashland, Ky.) -- During the course of the investigation The Kentucky State Police was unable to locate Ms. Massards vehicle. The Kentucky State Police and Olive Hill Police Department later located Ms. Massards vehicle in Olive Hill, KY. David J. Caudill (age 33) was in possession of the vehicle and was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Operating a Motor Vehicle under the Influence 2nd Degree, Operating on a suspended operators license and a warrant for Flagrant non support. Mr. Caudill was lodged in the Carter County Detention Center. On this date autopsies are scheduled to be performed on the victims by the State Medical Examiners Office. This remains under investigation by Detective Erik Kouns Unit 739.

Date of News Release: 11/16/2009

(Ashland, Ky.) -- The Kentucky State Police in Ashland are investigating a double homicide in the Mocabee Creek area in Carter County. The victims, Virginia Massard (49) & Joseph Cox (27) were located in a residence on Mocabee Creek. The Kentucky State Police is still working with the Carter County Commonwealth Attorney in the investigation, with autopsies scheduled to be performed on the victims. More information will be provided as this investigation progresses.
