Kentucky State Police working with Jersey City Police Department
Date of News Release: 01/07/2009
(Ashland, KY) - On January 6 2009, the Kentucky State Police received information from the Jersey City Police Department in the state of New Jersey, concerning inadvertent disposal of human remains. The Jersey City Police Department provided information, which derived from an investigation into the disposal of a newborn child's remains from a medical facility in their jurisdiction. Further information gathered led to the possibility of the human remains being in transit to an Ashland area landfill by rail.
The Kentucky State Police in Ashland is coordinating an effort with the Jersey City Police Department and CSX to secure the railcars in question and move forward as necessary. The Kentucky State Police will provide further updates when new information becomes available.
