Arrest Made in the Shooting Investigation in Knott County

(Topmost, Ky.) -- An arrest has been made in a murder that occurred in Knott County in September. The Kentucky State Police arrested Mack Tackett, 26, and charged him with one count of murder in connection with the death of his wife, Heather Tackett. On September 5, 2009, Troopers with the Kentucky State Police, Post 13, in Hazard located Mrs. Tackett deceased in a residence that she shared with Mr Tackett. Mr Tackett was lodged in the Roederer Correctional Complex in LaGrange, KY. The incident is still under investigation by Detective Randy Combs.

Date of News Release: 09/05/2009
(Topmost, Ky.) -- On Saturday, September 5, 2009 at approximately 0157 hours Kentucky State Police, Post 13 in Hazard received a call that Mack Tackett, 26, had shot himself. Upon the arrival of Troopers Joel Abner and Chad Easterling, they discovered Mack Tackett with a facial injury from a gunshot wound. The Troopers then located Mr. Tackett's wife, Heather Tackett, deceased inside their residence. Heather Tackett, 29, suffered a single gunshot wound. Mr Tackett was transported to Holston Valley Medical Center in Tennessee where he was listed in critical condition. The incident is still under investigation by Det. Randy Combs.
