Perry County Murder Arrest

(Saul, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police Detectives from Post 13 in Hazard have arrested a Perry County man charging him with the murder of his brother. The incident happened at around 14:40 hours on Monday September, 7th at a residence located at 10683 Kentucky Highway 2022 in the Saul community of Perry County. The victim Richard Earl Barger, age 45 became involved in an argument with his brother Eugene Bradley Barger, age 49. During the argument a handgun was drawn and the victim was shot resulting in his death. The victim was later pronounced deceased at the scene by the Perry County Coroners Office. The perpetrator Eugene Bradley Barger was taken into custody without further incident and has been charged with one count of Murder. Eugene Bradley Barger is being lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail located at 200 Justice Drive in Hazard, KY. Detective Gary Sandlin with KSP Post 13 Hazard is in charge of the on-going investigation. No additional arrests are expected at this time. The Perry County Sheriff's Department, Perry County Ambulance Authority along with other KSP Post 13 personnel all responded to the scene.
