Pedestrian Killed on KY Hwy 28 in Perry County

(Chavies, Ky) -- On Saturday, August 22, 2009 at approximately 3:49 PM, KY State Police, Post 13, in Hazard received a call of an accident on KY Hwy 28 in the Chavies community of Perry County involving a pedestrian. A 2006 Chevrolet Equinox operated by Krista Willett, 23, of Jackson was traveling west on KY Hwy 28, when a juvenile attempted to cross the roadway in front of her vehicle. The 12 year old boy was struck by the vehicle, and later pronounced deceased at the Hazard ARH Medical Center. Ms. Willet and her passenger, Angelia Willett, did not sustain any injuries. The collision is still under investigation by Tpr Jennifer Sandlin, CVE Officer Tommy Gearheart, and CVE Officer Keith Justice.
