Fatal Collision on KY Hwy 15 in Perry County

(Glomawr, Ky.) -- On Tuesday, August 18, 2009, KY State Police, Post 13, in Hazard was notified of an accident on KY Hwy 15 in the Glomawr community of Perry County. A 2001 Buick LeSabre, operated by Lorene Dollarhide of Whitesburg, KY, was traveling north on Ky Hwy 15 toward Hazard. Ms. Dollarhide apparently lost control of her vehicle, and traveled into the southbound lane. Ms. Dollarhide's vehicle struck a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu, operated by Billie Combs of Happy, KY, head on. A 2007 Ford Explorer, operated by Det. Tim Engle with the KY State Police, was also traveling south on KY Hwy 15. Det. Engle was unable to avoid the collision and was struck by Ms Dollarhide's vehicle. Both Ms. Dollarhide, 59, and Ms. Combs, 52, were pronounced dead at the scene by Perry County Coroner Jimmy Maggard. Det. Engle was treated and released for minor injuries at the Hazard ARH. The accident is still under investigation by Trooper Brandon Thomas with the KY State Police.
